So far the weekend has been grand. Slept in a bit today, and when I got up I did some laundry. I washed all our bedding, which made ladybug69 happy, 'cos it means she doesn't have to do it. We also had my brother, John, over and watched some movies that have been sitting on our DVR for awhile now:
E had seen the first two already, and I agree with her: They're better than the 3rd. Still was fun, though. Dinner from Pete's topped it all off.
In other, unrelated, news: I've decided to knuckle down and just pay the $300 to get high-quality custome boots made for SCA. I've been wanting some of these for awhile now; close to 10 years, I'd guess. The picture on the left is about what I'd have, only with red leather instead of that gold.
I'm really looking forward to getting back into doing SCA again, and having the cash to do it the way I'd like for a change.
What are your plans for the holiday weekend?
Today I had some people over to work on character for my upcoming Spycraft 2.0 campaign. (Yes, I'm a geek.) I also watched some boxing with folks, then they left and ladybug69 and I went out and bought some crap, including a new lamp. Now I'm cooking some pork chops stuffing with apples and she's watching "Degrassi." The episode when Emma and Manny try bulimia.
Oh. Plans? Um, laziness. Nothing tomorrow. Maybe a movie Monday. (Probably Idlewild, but you never know.)
Okay. Last post. I do that photography thing, so as I move in here I want to show off some of my stuff.
I shot this one to illustrate someone's story on a web 'zine.
This one I shot while on a walk on Christmas Day last year.
Finally, this one is from a few weeks ago.
It's funny. You'd think I love working on B&W from all these. Really, I prefer color but I guess I'm just in a monochrome mood tonight.
Okay, I lied, that wasn't the last for tonight. ladybug69 is watching "Monk" on the TV, so you get another book I read, toward the beginning of the month, and haven't gotten around to posting about on my web page yet. This one's about the youth of Julius Caesar. Not bad, not as great (so far as historical adventure fiction goes) as something by Bernard Cornwell, but we take what we can get. I may give the sequels a go.
So, I just started this, and the fact that I can write so easily about the books I read is, well, awesome. I just finished this one a few nights ago. This is my 2nd read. Still great. As an Ellroy fan, it's interesting to realize he wrote this one in the first person. It's been awhile since I read the LA Quartet. I can't remember if White Jazz is that way or not.
Anyway, looking forward to the movie in a few weeks.
Oh, and, "Hi."
